And so it's the final day of 2009. Full of homework, test, revisions, textbooks and exams.(heh heh) So anyway happy new year's eve!!!MySpace

Today I went on board the MV Doulos MySpace, the world's oldest active ocean-faring passenger ship and it has a Guinness World Record to prove it. It was first constructed in 1914 thus making it about 94-95 years old!MySpace It is docked at Vivo City Berth, Singapore until today, 26 December 2009. That's right I visited it on it's last day in Singapore. Admission is free and going up the ship was fun yet scary, instead of the conventional steps they had these steps that were curved like a ladder except with no gaps in between ( I don't blame you if you don't get it as it's very hard to describe it, this is the best i can do), what made it scary was that I am afraid of heights and the "staircase" was shaking when i was climbing aboard! Plus it was drizzling ( so much for "wet" post-Christmas).

There we were directed into the cabin for kids to play games, I obliviously did not take part and just went forward deeper into the ship. There is a limited part of the ship you could visit for free, guided tours are S$10 for adults and S$5 for children if you want venture deeper into the ship. I for one being confused as to where the book sale (yes book sale...) was held nearly wandered to the part of the ship you were supposed to pay to enter!MySpace

Anyway, minor misadventures aside, the main reason I wanted to get on the ship was the International Book Sale they were having (heheMySpace) on the top deck. I was expecting to burn a hole in my pocket and spend some of my hard saved savings but in the end I only spent S$4 there, Key chain S$1 x 3 + Ice cream S$0.50 x 2 (me and my bro), i don't know whether to be happy or sad!MySpace I wasn't interested in many of the books there, most were non-friction, christian books, Kids books, lifestyle books and Cookbooks. I was expecting more books like Agatha Christie or Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and more " mature" books but as a consolation i found Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys books!MySpace

Anyway it was a fun and interesting experience too bad they are going to scrap the ship by the and of this yearMySpace as it was getting too expensive to maintain so it can be considered a white elephant, they also were slashing prices, especially for souvenirs, like crazy as much as 50% but postcards were reduced by 90%, however, they were S$1 to begin with so it wouldn't really count as a discount as S$1 per postcard sounds like a ripoff.
I might upload the pictures tomorrow as it is getting late and for some reason it's taking very long to upload the images. Oh yeah, I decided to stop the video of the day segment temporarily as my blog is taking longer to load so no video of the day,i might put one every now and then, so as to whether I should stop putting videos on my blog altogether please comment on the Cbox!

Christmas is almost here!!! Only a few more hours to go. It seems as though the weather is also fitting for Christmas as it was snowing but since it i am in a tropical country it turned to rain! So this year we might have a "wet" Christmas rather than a "white" one. Today I went to watch Sherlock Holmes @ the cinemas. The movie was very so-so, the first part was all talking blah blah blah and then BAM it get's interesting in the later part. The action scenes were pretty good but their attempts at comedy were a bit bland, I wasn't cracking up as much as the guy behind me (or it's just that I don't have much of a sense of humor) and they seem to be talking a bit too fast so I didn't catch what they were saying (maybe my ears weren't functioning as well today) . The best part of the film was probably at the end where the climax is, it got really exciting and I was at half my seat. Overall the movie was interesting but at the same time a bore, i feel that it has too much dialog and it sorts of drags at times, not to mention a few plot points i don't get. So , in my opinion, 2.75/5 stars as I actually felt bored most of the time while watching the movie maybe die hard Sherlock fans would enjoy it more, I don't know I'm no expert movie critic.MySpace

Today there will be no video of the day as I am saving up my Christmas tunes for tomorrow~MySpace
SO HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I went to my cousin-I-have-never-met-before's wedding yesterday and i think it was a wonderful night for them, for me,it was rather below average. I am not referring their dinner, i am referring to my experiences throughout the night. I seem to have many cousins cause i get invited to my relative's wedding at least once a year and it turns out that i have never met them, i can't even tell whether the Bride or the Groom is related to me but that was not what spoiled my night. The problem with these gatherings is that sometimes your parents talk too much about you to friends, Grand uncles, grandfather's sister etc. and get you embarrassed, well that's what happened to me. One of my parents just won't stop talking about my negative points and went a bit overboard and make me seem like a illiterate child, of course i will get angryMySpace, I mean people would normally want to leave a good or at least neutral impression on people, especially ones that you don't know much about. Not to say i am perfect or in the right but I have my flaws, I acknowledge that but it was going a bit too far. Worst I worsened my name by having an outburst and showing undesirable attitude but it made my parent quiet for a while so at that point i was also in the wrong. The Walk at Clarke Quay after the wedding really help me to cool down, with Christmas around the corner it made the place more brighter and Clarke Quay is a very cool and happening place full of fashionable restaurants and bars, I really enjoyed it. Anyway my parent and i have forgiven each other and made up so everything turned out alright. My other regret that night was not taking photos at Clarke Quay as i didn't want my phone to be stolen as it was already late at night. (Sign...MySpace)

Today's video of the day is of a lighter note, it warns you that getting drank is your own responsibility not the alcoholic drink or the company's fault...

This past week has been a bit boring(again...). However, it's more exciting then the last just by a teeny bit. Apparently my mother walked into a lift and found feces in it ,origin not specified. (unusual place to be found, in my opinionMySpace)
Ewww gross, must be a NASTY experience, poor Mom, she warned me about it so i have been avoiding that particular lift for a few days now and have only used it again recently, still it must have been gross.MySpace
This week was also my Annual Bedroom Spring Cleaning Day (the one before was not the full one but this is). Why annual? Simple, I've neglected the cleanliness of my room due to my studies and school work and thus not having time to clean my room's "hidden" areas (eg. behind and under furniture, hard to reach places etc.), my room still looks presentable either way but since it is the holidays,i thought, why not clean up those areas.
Cleaning it was like mining for gold. I had to dislodge the "rocks" in the form of furniture to find the "gold" in the form of dust bunnies! It was a horrible and tiring experience. I was horrified at the amount of "gold"(dust bunnies) and"gold dust"(dust) found and floating on the air as i cleaned my room and as a bonus i also found "platinum"(trash). MySpace
I was sneezing like hell in there. The "mask" was uncomfortable and i only thought of wearing it near the end of the cleaning (silly me). It took about 3-4 hours to get it done and i was glad it was over, one of the most irritating experiences ever, sneezing and itching away for some time.

Today's video of the day features a very cute and innovative money box from Japan:

Aww.. Isn't it so cute?

Oh well, today was nothing out of the ordinary, just me doing my usual stuffMySpace. Today I just finished watching an anime called D.N.Angel, i think it's quite good actually. It is basically about a guy who, whenever he thinks about his crush, transforms into the famous thief named Dark, who (of course ) steals precious works of art right under the police's noses making them seem useless. I've also read the manga already though it is currently incomplete as the manga is an ongoing series unlike the anime which only has about 26 episodes.Oh well now i need to find something else to occupy my time.MySpace

Today's video of the day is the music video of the theme for the mega epic Chinese Movie Red Cliff part II ( yes there is a part one, both parts are about 2 hours long so it's a 4 hour movie altogether) titled 久遠の河 (kwon no kawa) or translated river of eternity. It is sung by the up and rising Chinese/Tibetan artist Alan Dawa Dolma who is active in Japan. This song became her first #1 on the Oricon weekly singles chart (think Japanese version of the Billbord charts) and her first single to sell over the 30000 mark on the Oricon. This song has both Japanese and Chinese versions to it so today for the 2nd consecutive time i'm going to put up 2 videos. Yay!!!

Sign...MySpace these few days have been uneventful for me so I'm just updating my blog to show that it's not dead or anything. However I have been reading some random Manga here and there to occupy my time so here's today's video of the day for this short and sweet post.
This is the piano solo version of forbidden colors which was featured in the 1983 film Merry Christmas, Mr Lawrence composed and played Japanese Musician, Composer, Record producer and actor Ryuichi Sakamoto who has also won an Academy, Grammy and Golden Globe award. This song is one of my favorites as it is very relaxing and has a nostalgic feeling to it (and it sort of fits the mood i am in right now.ha ha) so listen to the music, relax and unwind.MySpace

P.S. Don't forget to comment in the Cbox as the comment system is not working...

and here's a little extra: this one is a version of the song featuring the Koto( traditional Japanese string instrument similar to the Harp though played horizontally than vertically, check wikipedia ) and Shakuhachi (traditional Japanese Flute). I personally prefer this one over the piano one as it sounds more traditional but it's just my opinion what's yours?

Yesterday I went to King Bhumibol Adulyadej's birthday celebration at the Thai embassy. I know it's a little late but it's understandable as many people work on weekdays and on Saturday so it's always held the Sunday after the King's Birthday. You can enter as long as your Thai or one of your parents is Thai. The place was crowded on that day and it was not very easy to get around. It's my 3rd time going there so I'm not that surprised. everyone of us was given a candle and a goodie bag( yay!MySpace) there was not much in it so I'll skip the part of what's in the bag. There was also some singing too but i didn't sing cause i don't know what they were singing about so it was weird for me...MySpaceThe candles were then put in some sandbox( that's the best i can describe it) as a blessing for the king and wish him good health ( i think...).Anyway the best part of being there was the FREE food!MySpace I ate until i was full and i think I gained a bit of weightMySpace so here are two pictures above. (could not get more cause my phone's camera is faulty.MySpace)

Here's today's video of the day, Don't forget to pay your utility bills...:

HAPPY 82nd BIRTHDAY KING BHUMIBOL ADULYADEJ OF THAILAND!!!MySpace

Today marks the 82nd birthday for the longest reigning monarch in the world (63 years and counting!) I was watching the parade they had in front of the Grand Palace in Bangkok via the internet and i was amazed at how the Grand Palace looked at the background and the sheer number of people who were there to celebrate it. Honestly i just tuned , with my mother,in the later part of the show near the end so i haven't seen much. i didn't know what they were talking about so i had my mother translate for me.MySpace They also showed celebrations from all over the world like in Dubai and Chicago so it was a cool experience. What i liked the most was the fireworks display they were so pretty!

Today was spring cleaning day for my house.MySpace There was a LOT cleaning to be done what was worse was the ANCIENT dust bunnies (no they were NOT cute like real bunnies) that were found in my room!MySpace I also felt a mix of happiness and sadness as i was cleaning as although i was happy they were out of the way, they had a sense of sentimental value to me so i felt strange (even more so when i am writing this post weird huh?).MySpace

Today's video of the day is a series of commercials from Thailand advertising the need to exercise with a new creative twist and more reasons to go work out...
